Welcome to Pilot Point

On behalf of the Pilot Point City Council and the citizens of our community, WELCOME. Pilot Point is a historic town and proud of its heritage. Located just 30 minutes north of Denton, we pride ourselves in our tradition and history.

Visitors to Pilot Point will enjoy our historic shopping district full of antique, boutique and specialty stores as well as restaurants. The City Council prides itself in working toward our vision in a unified effort with city staff to prepare for the Pilot Point of tomorrow. In doing so, we are careful to maintain our heritage in a safe environment where families and commerce are the center of our focus.

MAYOR JANET R. GROFF

Janet R. Groff, was elected to the Office of Mayor of the City of Pilot in May 2008 after serving two and a half terms on the City Council. She represented place 3. She holds the distinction of being the first woman to ever be elected to the Office of Mayor for the City of Pilot Point.

Janet has lived in Pilot Point for 45+ years. She is a 1971 graduate from Pilot Point Gee High School. She has one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Steve Klohn, and three grandchildren that attend Pilot Point schools.

Groff is currently a detention officer at the Denton County Sheriff's Office, a position she has held for three (3) years. Prior to that, she was Secretary of Pilot Point Elementary.

She serves as Chair on the Economic Development Board.

The primary goal as Mayor is to develop Pilot Point's economy to enable support of basic citizen services. She also promotes the highest level of cooperation between the City of Pilot Point and Denton County.
